CARLAWelcome back to Foul Territory. I'm Carla Streich. Fifteen games into the 2026 season, and the standings are beginning to mean something. We have a team on a five-game winning streak that nobody was talking about a week ago. We have the best team in the league dropping two in a row. And we have a thirty-eight-year-old man who threw a shutout.

CARLAIron Knob — eleven and three coming in, went four and two. Still in first place. Blyleven went nine innings against Huanca. Complete game. Six hits, zero walks, one strikeout. Thirty-eight years old, and controlled everything.

CARLATo be fair — one strikeout in a complete game shutout is a strange kind of dominance.

RAZORCarla, Blyleven didn't need strikeouts. He made them hit it where he wanted them to hit it. It's as if he wasn't throwing pitches. He was issuing orders. The hitters were just there to sign the paperwork.

CARLAGreg Maddux — 6.07 ERA. Lasted two and a third innings on Friday. IKE won eleven to six but the offense had to cover for him. That can't happen every time. Fugging Honey Badgers — eleven and four overall, went two and three. Two losses to Huanca. The first one — nine to four — was mostly Hurst having a tough night early. The second — three to two — Montgomery came in with a lead. Didn't hold it. Lee Smith and Dibble closed the door for Huanca. First loss on the season for Montgomery.

RAZORI'm not panicking about FUG. They won two of three against the Astleys this weekend. Moore at 1.38, Andersen out of the pen at 0.59. This is not a broken team.

CARLABut?

RAZORBut the starters behind Moore — Hurst, Magrane, McCaskill — those are numbers that get uncomfortable when you read them out loud. When Moore isn't on the mound, your closer has to be perfect. This week, he wasn't.

CARLARick Astleys — twelve and six. Eric Davis putting up 12.1 runs created per twenty-seven. Tettleton over a thousand OPS. Eckersley gave up his first blown save of the season Saturday. The staff gets thin fast below Smith B. At some point that math changes.

CARLAKnockemstiff — nine and six. Bonilla at .386. Sierra at .368. McGriff has seven home runs. Burns is four and oh. And they beat IKE Friday, eleven to six.

RAZOREleven runs against a team with the lowest ERA in this league.

CARLAWorth noting Maddux started that game and exited after two and a third.

RAZORThat is worth noting, yes. The lineup is real. You don't get eleven runs by accident. The back end of the bullpen — four blown save opportunities. Some closers find it. Some don't. When that rotation gets whole again, with Perez back around the twenty-seventh, this team looks very different.

CARLANicaragua — eight and seven. Four and one this week, riding a five-game winning streak.

RAZORI want to say something. I said in the preseason that Nicaragua was going to surprise people. I said the rotation would pitch this team into contention. I want the record to show that.

CARLAThe record does show that. I'll also note that three of their five wins this week came against teams at the bottom of the standings —

CARLA— and they haven't beaten a team above .500 since April eighth.

RAZORThat is also on the record.

CARLAClemens at 2.66, Saberhagen going eight and two-thirds and shutting Oak Ridge out completely. Those are real starts. Shoutout to manager Carpenter. A team that looked uncertain in week one is playing confident baseball.

CARLAHuanca Wankers — eight and nine. Four and two. Martinez de la Torre goes eight innings in the FUG opener. Bosio, Viola, Cone — this rotation is legitimate. Sandberg had five RBI in the opener. Yount at .347. A genuine shoutout to manager Broyles, whose team just took two games off the best team in the league.

CARLABefore standings — we should say a quick word about the Oak Ridge Nukes.

RAZOR...should we?

CARLAThree and fourteen. And yet — they took a game from Knockemstiff on Thursday. Nine to seven. Deer hit two home runs. Palmeiro drove in four. Anderson pitched eight innings and gave up one run.

RAZOR...Okay.

CARLAThey also took a game off IKE earlier in the season. And they pushed FUG to a one-run margin twice in back-to-back games. There's something about this team, Razor.

RAZORIt's almost like the whole town of Oak Ridge has a longstanding smoldering grudge to settle with certain teams. I couldn't tell you why. But you can feel it on the field.

CARLAIsn't that something.

RAZORAnderson's got a 3.20 ERA, for what it's worth.

CARLAIt's worth something.

CARLAStandings as of April eighteenth. Iron Knob eleven and three. Fugging eleven and four. Astleys twelve and six. Knockemstiff nine and six. Nicaragua eight and seven. Huanca eight and nine.

RAZORThree teams within two games of first. Nicaragua on a five-game streak. And somewhere out there the Nukes are circling the schedule looking for their next victim.

CARLALancaster at FUG returns tomorrow. Pascual Perez, Knockemstiff — still out, expected back April twenty-seventh. Oak Ridge — Hawkins out until the twenty-fourth, Washington through the twenty-seventh.

RAZORPascual Perez. The kind of arm that changes the energy in a rotation the moment he walks back through the door. Houlberg is managing without him and managing well. But you feel the absence.

CARLAThe Fugging rotation situation — specifically the back half of it — forces manager Graham into a roster decision before the end of the month. Someone in that starting group doesn't survive April.

RAZORNicaragua wins a series against a team above .500 in the next two weeks. The rotation is real enough. Carpenter's got something going. I'm doubling down.
